About
I’m a Senior Staff Software Engineer at Sonar. I’m a technical leader with experience leading both as an individual contributor and as an engineering manager.
After three years as an Engineering Manager, I’ve moved back to hands-on development at Sonar. The move came down to two things: the chance to deepen my skills in cloud development and distributed systems design, and the belief that agentic development has changed what’s possible for individual contributors to accomplish.
How I got here
May 2018 – Dec 2020
Software Developer
Joined the Languages Team, spending my first six months building analyzers for Java, PHP, Swift, Apex, C# and VB.NET. Took ownership of the .NET Roslyn analyzers within a year, and in 2019 started hiring and forming the .NET Squad.
Dec 2020 – Dec 2022
Part-time Engineering Manager
Kept shipping code as a Senior Software Developer while taking on informal management. Served on the Languages Team Council, an official governance body formed by senior developers, handling people management, performance evaluations, promotions, and team organization in the absence of a formal engineering management hierarchy. Also grew the .NET Squad and ran its day-to-day, as the Languages Team scaled from 30 to 70+ engineers.
Jan 2023 – Aug 2026
Engineering Manager
Went full-time management when Sonar introduced a formal track. I led the .NET Squad, then the SDLC Data Squad, then the DevOps Platforms Experience Squad. See Impact for details.
Sep 2026 – Present
Senior Staff Software Engineer
Back to full-time hands-on development in the AutoScan Squad, drawn by the chance to go deeper on cloud and distributed systems and by how much agentic development has changed what an IC can take on.
How I work
I have a strong technical voice. I like to read the code and understand how our systems work. I also care about how our customers are using the product. I aim to bring clarity in ambiguous cross-functional, ever-changing environments.
I care about observability, production investigation, and business telemetry. When something goes wrong, I want us to know quickly and understand what happened. I expect every engineer in the team to have a learning mindset.
I’ve navigated both flat organisations and more hierarchical ones. I believe in giving engineers trust, ownership and opportunities to grow. And I am there to support when things get complicated.
Earlier
Before Sonar, I wrote software at Microsoft Ireland on the Office 365 commerce platform. See Impact for details.
I also worked for Bitdefender and Almetis.
I studied at the Politehnica University of Bucharest and the “Vasile Alecsandri” College in Galați.
Outside work
Orthodox Christian. Husband. Occasional conference speaker.
